The Government has introduced an Environmental Contribution,
also known as Eco-Contribution as a way to alleviate and compensate for
activities that in some way negatively impact our local environment. The
revenue generated may than be directed towards improving local infrastructure
and investing back into projects that help improve the quality of our local
environment. A specific return must be completed and submitted to the Office of
the Commissioner for Revenue reflecting the amount of eco-contribution charged
and levied in the respective period. Click on the following links to learn more
about when and how eco-contribution is due and what compliance obligations must
be fulfilled by taxpayers in Malta.
